I took a few pictures of Gina's family on Sunday and I wasn't going to post any at first... mainly because, well, sometimes I get a little nervous when other people post pictures of me and I haven't seen them (I know, I'm the queen of the self-portrait lately, but it's really only to remember the pregnancy). I'm a pretty self-confident person, but I get an email saying someone tagged me in a photo on Facebook and I'm all, really? How sweet is this going to be? Because I have like 267 friends and I've even spoken to like half of them in person once or twice and so I don't really need them seeing that picture of me with a triple chin.
But then I was finishing up the pictures tonight and I decided Gina is really too pretty not to post. :) So I hope she doesn't mind.
Also I pretty much came to the conclusion that family portraits are NOT my specialty (not that I have one (other than maybe pictures of Max :)). Trying to get everyone situated and trying to get two kids under 2.5 to look at me or even just be still on occasion is, um, apparently not that easy? Ha.
But there's this picture of Max and I in our family room, I think it's maybe one Tom took when Max was probably about nine months old, and I have my arms wrapped around him and we're both smiling and his little hand is wrapped around my wrist... and even though I have way cuter pictures of Max around, and even though I myself am in a hooded sweatshirt and most likely hadn't even managed a shower that day, I look at that one picture ALL the time. And when I do, I can almost FEEL how that felt, to hold him when he was that little, you know?
Which is why we moms should be in pictures more often.
So, I've decided I'm getting family pictures done too. Well, when I'm at least a bit smaller than a house. Even if Tom doesn't go along with it, I'm going to take my kids and be in some pictures with them on my own, DANG IT.
Thanks, Gina... you guys are the cutest.
ahhh, it makes my heart hurt. my babies :)
i REALLY appreciate you taking the time to do it and to edit them in your current state. they are perfect.
i wish i could help with your family pictures...because every mom needs a picture of her with her babies.
do you and max have plans tomorrow?

Beautiful shots Kim. Family pictures are hard, but I find that the shots that aren't perfect are the ones that truly represent life at that moment. Is it really real to have my 3 kids ALL looking at the camera being happy and calm? Um, no. So why would I expect that to EVER happen?
And I agree 100%, us moms are NEVER in the pictures. It's a terrible thing. I try to do our family pictures at least once a year, but would love to do more than once ideally. You should definitely have someone take your pictures once your sweet girl comes. You won't regret it, even in your post baby body. I did it with all three and it brings back sooooo many emotions! ANd you don't look like a house :)

great pictures! i think sometimes it's more memorable to capture those moments than to get a great pose. i agree that you need to get some pictures with your kiddos....once your little one is here. i'm really looking forward to tomorrow!!!

whatever Kim...my most favorite photos of all time are the family photos you took for us! You are extremely talented, I know what you mean about being able to feel what's happening in the pictures. You know how to capture that!

Those are really beautiful! I used to think that a really good family picture was one in which everyone was looking at the camera, smiling and saying 'CHEESE', but I have come to appreciate the more candid shots - the ones that scream 'This is what our life is really like!' I think you got that perfectly.

You are good at family shots..and Gina is beautiful. I was looking for a pic of me for FB last night and realized I had 6000 pics of the boys on my computer and 2 pics of me.
If you guys come down to the cities this fall I would be happy to shoot some. (Total Amateur of course.)
